Obituary for
Sylvia Darden (Brown)
Sylvia Darden, 93, of Piedmont, passed away, Sunday, November 20, 2016, at her daughter’s residence in Desloge, MO. She was born December 10, 1922, to the late, James Brown and Minnie (Odell) Brown.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by; her loving husband, Luther Darden, one son, James Darden, one grandson, John Darden, six brothers, Author, Ples, Owen, Ed, Everett, and Earnest Brown, and four sisters, Elsie Leach, Edna Million, Nina Phillips, and Evelyn Ballard.
Sylvia married Luther “Jim” Darden on July 10, 1945.
She is survived by; her daughter, Joan Stanfill, of Desloge, MO; daughter-in-law Maryann Darden of Piedmont, MO; five grandchildren, Dana Andrews and her husband James of Terre Du-Lac, MO, Tara Stanfill of Park Hills, MO, James “Jimmy” H. Darden and his wife Marcie of Battlefield, MO, Jennifer Darden of Denver, CO, and Jacob Darden of Piedmont, MO; four great-grandchildren, Kieth Cash and his wife Meagan of Farmington, MO, Alicia Stanfill of Park Hills, MO, Sylvia Darden of Park Hills, MO, Mariah Darden of Terre Du Lac, MO; and four great-great-grandchildren, Lelynn and Aliyiah Barton of Park Hills, and Dylan and Allison Cash of Farmington, MO.
During WWII, Sylvia worked at Small Arms, manufacturing ammunition. She later worked for Brown Shoe Co, in Piedmont, she co-owned and operated Darden’s Grocery store with her husband Luther, was a cook at Clark’s Mountain Nursing Home, and a cook at Clearwater High School. She was a wonderful cook; her family’s favorite was her homemade cinnamon rolls. She will be greatly missed.
Sylvia was a Christian and of the Nazarene Faith.
Visitation was held at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont, Friday, November 25, 2016, at 5:00 pm. Funeral services were held Saturday, November 26, 2016 at 1:00 pm, also at the Piedmont Chapel. Burial was at Masonic Cemetery. Pastor Richard Sanders ministered to the family. Keith Cash, Gary Street, Jacob Darden, John Duncan, Roy Million, Seth Street served as pallbearers.
