Ruby Evelyn Ward (Nelson)
Ruby Evelyn Ward, 89, of Mill Spring, MO, passed away Friday, March 31, 2017, at her residence. She was born January 14, 1928, in Mill Spring, MO, to the late, Edward and Maggie Nelson nee’ Jarrett. Ruby grew up near Rumbar in Butler County and attended School there until she married in 1944.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by, one newborn son, Johnny Ward, five brothers, Roy Nelson, Lewis Johnson, Kenneth Johnson, and Francis Johnson, and Delbert Johnson, and two sisters, Pearl Blount and Mabel Kiser.
She is survived by, three sons, Jim and his wife Evelyn Ward of Mill Spring, MO, Cecil and his wife Charlinda Ward of Piedmont, MO, and Edward and his wife Susan Ward of Paducah, KY; two daughters, Charlotte Huffman and Mary Ward both of Mill Spring, MO; one brother, Chester Johnson of Mill Spring, MO; two sister-in-laws, Rose Nelson of Poplar Bluff, MO; Laverne Johnson of Mill Spring, MO; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Ruby worked as a seamstress for many years. When she wasn’t working, she enjoyed flowers, gardening, and cooking for her loved ones. She would cook for everyone no matter day or night. She was a loving, good hearted person, who treated many as her second children.
She was a member of Faith Worship Center in Piedmont, MO.
Visitation will be held Monday, April 3, 2017, from 10:30 am - 1:00 pm, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont, MO. Services will follow at 1:00 pm, at the chapel. Burial will follow at Carson Hill Cemetery, Mill Spring, MO. Online condolences can be made at www.rueggfuneralhomes.com
