Glen Parker
Glen Melvin Parker, 98, of Piedmont, passed away, Monday, May 8, 2017, at Clark’s Mountain Nursing Home in Piedmont. He was born September 5, 1918, to the late, Oscar Parker and Nellie (Hinkle) Parker in Brunot, MO.
In addition to his parents, Glen is preceded in death by, his wife of 67 years, Norma (Mann) Parker, two children; Glenna Lewis and Dwight Parker; one grandchild; Robert Warren; three brothers; Roy Parker, Nolan Parker, and Zan Parker; and two sisters; Lora Mae Heath and Thena Wilson.
He survived by his daughter; Donna Sue and her husband Rev. Jerry Spann of Lufkin, TX; daughter-in-law; Arlene Pennington Parker of Des Arc, MO; grandchildren; Julia and her husband Kurt Knodell of Poplar Bluff, MO; Jeffery and his wife Lorinda Lewis of Piedmont, MO; Jason Lewis of Dallas, TX; Kandice and her husband Clark Crawford of Tyler, TX; Seth and his wife Danielle Warren of Longview, TX; Amy and her husband Adam McCormick of Poplar Bluff, MO; Andrea and her husband Rev. Jamie Schick of Winter Haven, FL; Amanda and her husband Rev. Matthew Green of Stoke-on-Trent, England and Nathan and his wife Emily Parker of Riverdale, UT; one brother, Rev. Elmo Parker and his wife Imogene of Piedmont, MO; two sisters; Mildred Wilson of Fenton, MO; and Priscilla and her husband Rev. Johnny Clements of Des Arc, MO; 18 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great- grandchild.
Glen was a member of Victory Baptist Temple in Piedmont, MO, and a past member of First Baptist Church, where he had served as Deacon.
He was a longtime cattleman and owned a farm in Des Arc, MO, for many years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family. He always had a good sense of humor and was an active influence in church youth groups; setting a high example for Christian values. Visitation was held Thursday, May 11, 2017, at 5:00 p.m., at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont, MO. A graveside service was held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, May 12, 2017, at Mt. View Cemetery, Des Arc, MO.
