Obituary for
Lillian Aileen "Billy" Eaton (Marler)
Lillian Aileen (Billie) Eaton passed away peacefully on November 11, 2017 and made that final, long anticipated journey to meet with her Lord. She was ninety years young and had served the Lord and her family faithfully throughout her life. Billie was the second of eleven children born to Noah William Marler and Lillian Aileen Britt Marler. She was united in marriage to Sammy Herschel Eaton on February 28, 1948 in Pickett, AR. They had celebrated their sixty-sixth wedding anniversary prior to “Doc’s” passing on May 19, 2014.
Billie was preceded in death by her parents and nine of her brothers and sisters: Jane Ortner, Noah William Marler, Jr., Louis Edward Marler, Carol Jean Goggin, Fenton Ray Marler, Nedra Suzanne Barbre, Sally Joan Lundy, and Evelyn Marie Miller. She is survived by a sister and a brother, Betty Rose Deming of St. Louis, MO and James Marvin Marler of Autryville, NC as well as many nieces and nephews and other family members. Although she and “Doc” were not privileged to have children of their own, there was never a child of the family who did not find a home with them in times of need or simply to be with them for an extended time.
She was a faithful member of the Assembly of God faith and attended the Ellsinore Assembly of God church throughout her years of living in that community. During her life, she and “Doc” lived in Missouri, California, and Florida, but Wayne and Carter counties were always the places she called home. She graduated from Piedmont High School in 1946 as the Valedictorian of her class and entered the work force after graduation, working for Carter Carburetor in St. Louis. She held further employment positions with Liberty Loan and Anheuser-Busch, eventually retiring from that company and moving permanently to Ellsinore.
She will be dearly missed by her family and a great number of friends and acquaintances who came to know Billie as a tender-hearted child of God, always desiring to care for and nurture anyone who needed her love and affection. Because of her great love for children, contributions can be made in her behalf to Shriners’ Hospital for Children or St. Jude’s’ Hospital.
A memorial service was held at the Ellsinore Assembly of God church on Saturday, November 18, 2017. Visitation was from 1:00 PM with the service to beginning at 2:00 PM. She was interred beside “Doc” in the Carson Hill Cemetery following the memorial service. Rev. Scott Reynolds and Rev. Ralph Damon ministered to the family. Matt Damon, Dennis Gogan, Ronald Gogan, Larry Clyburn, Larry Clyburn Jr., and Joe Eaton served as pallbearers.
