Rev. W. L. Guess
Rev. W. L. Guess, 93, longtime resident of Coldwater, MO, passed away Sunday, February 18, 2018, at General Baptist Nursing Home, Campbell, MO. He was born July 9, 1924, in Wayne County, Missouri, to parents Clarence Guess and Ethel (Goforth) Guess. On February 7, 1942, he married Edna DeSpain, and she passed away June 20, 2016. In addition to his wife he is preceded in death by parents; and son, Carl Guess. He is survived by two daughters: Mary and husband John Lewis of Malden and Elaine Leeds of Poplar Bluff; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. He had served Christ as a General Baptist Minister for seventy-one years throughout Missouri. Visitation was held Tuesday, February 20, 2018, from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Greenville, MO. Services followed at 2:00 pm, also at the chapel. Bro. David McCutcheon ministered to the family. Patty Meyer, Roger Matthews and Karen Smith provided music. Bill Hovis, Mark King, Larry Leeds Jr, Eddie Blanchard, Mike Allen and Andrew King served as pallbearers. Burial was at Coldwater Methodist Cemetery.
